FAQs

Who can play?

Cricket is a brilliant sport which can be played by all people of all ages. At Brothers Cricket Club, we embody this by refusing to place limits on who can play. Regardless of your age or gender, you will be welcomed with open arms!

Looking specifically at age groups, we offer the Woolworths Junior Blasters Program for 5-7 year olds. For 7-16 year olds we offer more structured cricket competitions which are consistent with the Cricket Australia junior pathways. For those over the age of 16 years, we enter multiple teams in the Cricket Ipswich senior competitions. Traditionally, we enter teams in the First, Second and Third Division competitions.

What Uniform Do I Need?

When playing cricket at Brothers Cricket Club, you are doing more than playing a game. You are representing the oldest and proudest club in Ipswich. Consequently, all players are required to wear the club cap and playing shirt. Players are also required to wear long white cricket pants. Fortunately, these items can all be purchased directly from the club. Level 3 & 4 junior players and all senior players are required to wear cricket spikes when playing matches.

What Kit Do I Need?

For the Woolworths Junior Blasters Program and Level 1 Junior cricket competitions, Brothers Cricket Club will provide equipment. All equipment that is provided to players will be done so in accordance with approved COVID safe plans.

All senior players as well as junior players in Levels 2, 3 & 4 are required to provide their own cricket bat, gloves, pads and helmets. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions the club is unable to provide this kit for players.

How Do I Know If A Game Is Called Off?

Unfortunately cricket is a game which is inherently susceptible to the weather. Despite this, every attempt will be made to ensure that games can proceed. Consequently, players are advised that all games are on until they are told otherwise by their coach or club official. If a game is called off, players will be notified by either a phone call or text. Information will also be provided on the club’s Facebook page.

COVID-19 Implications?

Given the ever-changing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic’s effects, it must be acknowledged that information may be altered regularly. Regardless, Brothers Cricket Club adheres to public health advice and will be conducting events in accordance with approved COVID safe plans.
